WWJD

Do you remember those ubiquitous WWJD “What Would Jesus Do” bracelets? Sale of them funded programs for the hungry and homeless. That is so 1980’s. Last year, Catholic Charities served more than 28 million meal and provided emergency housing to about 300,000 people. They spent about $900 K to do this good work, $800 K of which came from the free-spending Biden administration. They made up the remainder in donations. Hey, you can only sell so many WWJD bracelets.

The highest-ranking Catholic in the Trump administration, JD Vance accused Catholic Charities of seeking out illegal immigrants to gain excessive Federal funding. Naturally, Fox News was all over it. “Catholic Church Encouraging Illegals!” Not to be outdone, disgraced former Trump advisor Michael Flynn upped the ante when he accused the Lutheran Church of “money laundering” in its handling of immigrant and refugee services. Apparently, Protestants are just as bad as Catholics when it comes to handing over your hard-earned tax dollars to illegals.

What would Jesus do? Would he separate children from their parents at the border? Would he pluck people from their workplace and ship them off to Guantanamo? Would he shackle people inside a cargo plane and fly them back to the country that they escaped from? Would he vote for the candidate who is doing just that? Yet Donnie garnered 95% of the “evangelical vote”.

JD will have a lot to confess to before the next Sunday mass.
