Trump Being Trump

Nikki Haley was tripped up over a “gotcha” question about the Civil War. Like any other politician, she paid the price of pundit mockery.

Donnie, on the other hand, says stupid things all the time and gets away with it. “That’s just Trump being Trump.”

Classy as always, Donnie commented on Nikki’s stumble over the weekend in Iowa. “Of course the Civil War was about slavery. Haley explained it in three paragraphs of bullshit (yes, he actually used that vulgar term to an audience of hundreds, another example of Donnie being Donnie).”

Donnie continued, “The Civil War was horrible, but a solution could have been negotiated!”

Presumably, 350,000 soldiers’ lives would have been saved if that Master Negotiator, Donald Trump, was sitting in the White House in 1861. Trump’s noble profile would be on the penny and the $5 bill today.

Donnie paid scant tribute to the guy actually on that currency. “If Lincoln had been a better negotiator, the Civil War would never have happened and no one would have ever heard of him.”

Abe should have read Donnie’s opus “The Art of the Deal”, but then he’d just have been another James Buchanan.

Further demonstrating his faulty grasp of history (not that anyone in a MAGA crowd knows any better), Donnie continued, “If Andrew Jackson had lived longer, he would never have allowed the Civil War to happen.”

Andrew Jackson owned nearly one hundred slaves. Andrew Jackson was such a bigot that as president he forcibly removed all the Indians from the southeast US ( the Trail of Tears). Andrew Jackson surely would have ended slavery in America and restored their land to the Cherokees in Donnie’s version of history.

Again, that’s Trump being Trump.
