The Graceful Back-Out

Donnie has yet to master The Graceful Back-Out. “Locker Room Talk”, “Fake News”, and “I’d Never Rape Her. She’s Not My Type” enrage more people than they mollify.

Donnie’s “Mini-Me”, JD Vance, had an opportunity to gracefully back-out of the Childless Cat Lady comment that dominated the news late last week. Instead, just like Donnie would, he doubled down. Responding to a softball question on Fox News last Sunday, JD said, “Our country has become particularly hard for parents, especially under the policies of Kamala Harris. The left has increasingly become explicitly anti-child and anti-family.”

Anti-child? Anti-family? Of course, Fox News would never counter that claim with:

JD voted against a Senate bill guaranteeing access to IVF which is about as pro-family and pro-child as you can get.

JD voted against a Senate bill to expand the Child Tax Credit and provide Paid Family Leave.

JD voted against a Senate bill expanding subsidized Child Care for working parents. JD claimed, “Normal Americans do not want to shunt their kids into crap daycare so they can enjoy more ‘freedom’ in the paid labor force.” Very compassionate, JD.

JD’s “double down” Back-Out on Sunday was a lot better than his flippant Back-Out earlier last week. Then JD said, “The Cat Lady comment was meant as sarcasm. I have nothing against cats.” That’s even worse-sounding than Donnie’s “I’d never rape her. She’s not my type.” The Graceful Back-Out is not a strong point of MAGA Land.
