Side Gig Denied
I’m seeking a side gig. Air Traffic Controller sounds like a fun job, high above it all in the Tower, bossing aircraft around, no heavy lifting or cardio required. As a straight white male, I stood no chance to become an ATC under Democrat administrations though. All the good jobs went to handicapped Black trans women. Thanks, D.E.I.!
That’s all changed now. After Wednesday’s tragic air crash, Donnie’s Transportation Secretary decried “the damage done to aviation safety by the Biden administration’s DEI and woke policies.” When Donnie himself was asked about that statement, he couldn’t resist “doubling down”.
“And the Obama administration,” he added. Apparently, the Fake News Media has disregarded the weekly plane crashes since Obama took office in 2007. Asked again whether race or gender had played a role in the crash, Donnie said, “It may have, I don’t know. Incompetence might have played a role.” Why did Trump’s Atlantic City casinos, Trump University, Trump Airlines, and Trump Vodka all fail? The same answer works. “I don’t know. Incompetence might have played a role.”
JD Vance joined the chorus. “Air Traffic Controllers were turned away because of the color of their skin. That policy ends under Donald Trump’s leadership.” Good point, JD. White people have been discriminated against since the first Blacks came to America in 1619. You hardly ever see a white CEO or billionaire.
Donnie has only been in office for a little over a week so he can’t be expected to know that before being hired, air traffic controllers go through training so rigorous that less than half make it. They have to pass an entrance exam, attend an academy, and achieve certification for every position they hold. Incompetence did not “play a role”, but don’t let the facts get in the way of great headlines for Fox News.
I probably couldn’t make it through ATC training anyway. I’m sure that the Trump administration will have plenty of other jobs for straight white males once they jettison all those DEI hires.
