Shallow

My beer of choice used to be Yuengling. It not only had more flavor than Bud or Miller, but it was brewed In Pottsville, PA by a Lafayette alumnus. Then Donald Trump, Jr. made a campaign stop at the Pottsville brewery in 2016 where he was warmly welcomed by Dick Yuengling himself.

Call me shallow, but if Trump Junior drinks it, I don’t.

Is The New York Times as shallow as I am? Adam Rubenstein, a former editor in the paper’s Opinion section, documented his reception at the Times after having worked at right-leaning outlets. “Being a conservative — or at least being considered one — at the Times was a strange experience. During my orientation session, I cited Chick-fil-A as my favorite sandwich.”

“The HR professional conducting the orientation scolded me “We don’t support them here. They hate gay people.”

So much for your first Performance Review, Adam. “Does great work. Never misses a deadline. But is anti-gay in his gut.”

The Times denied that this ever occurred. Adam is no longer employed there and the paper insinuated that Adam’s complaint was “sour grapes”. Still, it wouldn’t surprise me if Marjorie Taylor Greene wore a “Free Adam Rubenstein” tee-shirt to the next State of the Union.

Still, I am not so shallow that I will give up Chick-fil-A. Where else can I get 75% of the recommended daily allowance of sodium in a single sandwich? I have to keep my blood pressure elevated somehow.
