Senator Tom has the Answer

Senator Tom (“I wish I was in the land of”) Cotton knows how to deal with protesters. During the George Floyd protests, Senator Tom recommended “no quarter for insurrectionists, anarchists, rioters, and looters.” That idiot kid in Waukesha, WI took Tom at his word and shot two protesters dead. And got away with it, by the way. The poor lad felt threatened by those nasty protesters so, of course, he was justified in murdering them.

Senator Tom is up in arms about the current campus protests, especially when those protests block traffic. “I encourage people who get stuck behind the pro-Hamas mobs blocking traffic: take matters into your own hands. It’s time to put an end to this nonsense.”

A little vigilante violence is always a good idea, Senator Tom. Just like that yo-yo who drove his car into the protesters in Charlottesville and killed a girl.

Senator Tom’s Trump (pun intended) card was “Send in the National Guard!” just like Donnie recommended during the George Floyd protests. “We must protect Jewish students today just like President Eisenhower sent in the 101st Airborne to protect those Black students at Little Rock.”

That’s comparing apples and oranges, Senator Tom. A more valid comparison in the Kent State debacle in 1970. Ohio’s governor was angling for nomination to the US Senate and running on a get-tough platform against “dirty, long-haired hippies pretending to be students.” He overruled Kent State administration’s request to handle the protests with campus police and sent National Guard troops complete with loaded rifles, bayonets, and gas masks. The troops bombarded the protesters with tear gas, donned their masks, and marched in lock step toward the protesters, bayonets drawn.

There were roughly 3,000 protesters and no more than 100 National Guardsmen. Not surprisingly, some of the Guardsmen panicked and fired their weapons. Four protesters were killed and nine were wounded, one paralyzed for life.

Is this what you want repeated, Senator Tom?
