Most people have grown out of playground taunting by the time they are 60 years old. Most people aren’t Dawn Bancroft, 60, of Doylestown. Dawn was sentenced to sixty days incarceration, 100 hours of community service, and a $500 fine for her role in the Jan 6 insurrection.
Dawn posted a video on-line that day. It showed her breaking into the Capitol through a shattered window. On the floor of the Rotunda, Dawn said, “We got inside. We’re doing our part. We’re looking for Nancy to shoot her in the friggin’ brain.” Very subtle, Dawn.
Dawn’s lawyer provided a spirited defense at last week’s trial. “Dawn admits that her comments were inappropriate, childish, and foolish. But she had neither the intention nor the means to attack the Speaker of the House. It is indeed difficult to out a bullet in anyone’s brain when you are armed with nothing more than a Chap Stick, a photo ID, and a cell phone.” Good old Dawn. She travels light, but is always moisturizing.
Dawn’s lawyer continued, “Who has never told their spouse “I’m going to kill you if you leave your shoes on the carpet again!” If not for the political undercurrent of this case, the court would not even consider it.” Those poor, persecuted Trumpies broke into the Capitol, vandalized it, assaulted and injured Capitol policemen. But that’s just “legitimate political discourse” according to the Republican National Committee. Dawn’s threats are small potatoes in comparison.
Actually, Dawn suffered more severe consequences than the 60 days in jail, community service, and fine. Dawn had held a Cross-Fit Gym franchise. When the details of her arrest became public, she lost more than half of her clients and Cross-Fit terminated her franchise. It’s hard to believe that local Trumpies did not spring to her defense and join her gym. Donnie himself sets the “slim and trim” example for his supporters.
