Merit

November 5 cannot come soon enough. I try to ignore the political vitriol spewing from every portion of media. Even Pandora has ads bashing Kamala or Donnie. For the first time, Cheap Dad is tempted to pay up and go ad-free on Pandora.

I expect divisive falsehoods from Donnie, but when respected public figures spew racist dogwhistles, I get angry. Beloved TV psychologist Dr Phil spoke at Donnie’s Madison Square Garden Rally yesterday. Dr Phil touted his new venture, Merit Street Media. He claimed that he carefully chose the name because it was hard work that built America, not DEI. “We succeed on merit, not on “set asides”.

The crowd loved it. White people control America’s wealth because we worked harder for it than those lazy black and brown people!

Of course, Dr Phil would be just another unknown and unpublished pop psychologist if it weren’t for Oprah putting him on her TV show. He must have been chosen based on “merit” because he certainly lacked good looks. Was he Oprah’s DEI hire?

As Dr Phil drives his luxury car through his gated development, he might notice that the people physically working there are all black or brown. Non-Whites are doing all the landscaping, domestic chores, and construction. The people lounging inside their McMansions must be there due to “merit”.

I’m not sure what sort of sweetheart deal Dr Phil has with Merit Street Media. It could resemble Donnie’s deal with Truth Social where his stake in the company was originally worth $2 billion simply for the use of his name and the spewing out of his rants. Where is the hard work and “merit” in that?

Merit, Schmerit.
