Laughingstock

Donnie treated us to the first in a four year series of hilarious press conferences yesterday. He followed “America is a laughingstock around the world. No one respects us” with a statement that proves that point. “We’re going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. What a beautiful name, and it’s appropriate.”

Geez Donnie, while you’re at it why not rename that state sitting between Texas and Arizona “New America”?

Donnie is upset about Mexico’s handling of immigration, drug trafficking and trade. If punitive tariffs don’t bring Mexico City (soon to be renamed America City) to heel, surely renaming the Gulf will do the trick.

Look out Canada! You’re next. Donnie decried the Mexican government for allowing migrants to “pour” into the United States, saying Mexico “can stop them and we’re going to put very serious tariffs on Mexico and Canada because Canada, they come through Canada, too.”

Will Donnie rename all those geese that illegally crossed our northern border American Geese? Will Egg McMuffin toppings be renamed American Bacon? Take that, Canucks.

A classic comedy act (and Trump 2.0 promises to be one) needs a zany female sidekick. Sid Caesar had Imogene Coca. George Burns had Gracie Allen. Donnie has Marjorie Taylor Greene. No sooner did Donnie mention it than Marge claimed that she will introduce legislation to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico through an act of Congress. With both houses controlled by spineless Republicans afraid to cross Trump, it may very well become law.

Speaking of spineless, Fox News will surely begin referring to that body of water as the Gulf of America. Years ago, Donnie questioned why retailers were wishing shoppers “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas”. Fox News got all in a lather about that.

America will remain a “laughingstock around the world” as long as Donnie is in power.
