J.T.’s Studies

Those Canadian Socialists still require that everyone visiting their fair land show proof of COVID vaccination. That includes professional athletes. When my beloved Phillies traveled to the Great White North to play the Toronto Blue Jays a couple of weeks ago, three of their star players stayed home rather than be vaccinated. The Unfortunate Three also forfeited 3/162 of their salary (three games of a 162 game season). That cost Phillies star catcher J.T. Realmuto $111 K. Of course when you make $6 million, $111 K is chump change.

J.T. parroted the anti-vax line. “I’ve studied this and I won’t put something that is not entirely proven in my body.” Geez, J.T. Two hundred million Americans have been vaccinated over the past two and a half years. Maybe COVID vaccine is kind of safe. More to the point, maybe you don’t want to be “Typhoid Mary” or “COVID J.T.” to the guys you share a locker room with.

I wonder how J.T. feels about electric cars. I’ll bet he has “studied” that, too. J.T. should refer to a recent list of excuses in “The Onion” for hanging on to our gas guzzlers:

Electric providers aren’t reliable like OPEC and the Saudi royal family.

Are we rushing in before we even really know what electricity is?

It’d be disrespectful to the troops not to use the oil they died for in Iraq and Afghanistan.

You can’t commit suicide by running an electric car in your garage.

If your job is 40 miles away, you may need a 40 mile long extension cord.

In New Jersey, you can’t pump your own gas. They may not let you plug in your own car either.

Eventually, we’ll deplete the Earth’s finite supply of electricity.
