Heroes of Our Own Legend
A wise man once wrote, “We are all the heroes of our own legend (even if we make up a part of it).” Donald J. Trump would never utter a falsehood to make him look good, would he?
While being rigorously grilled on “Fox & Friends” this week, Donnie mentioned his only contact with Tim Walz. “During the riots, Walz’s house was surrounded by people that were waving an American flag — doesn’t sound like very bad people — and he called me, and he was very concerned, very, very concerned that it was going to get out of control. He asked me to put out the word that he was a good person. I did. Everybody put down their flags and took their flags with them. They took their American flags and their MAGA flags, and they left. He then called back to thank me. That’s the only thing I ever had to do with him.”
Frodo tossed The Ring into the fires of Mount Doom and saved Middle Earth. Donnie sent a text and saved Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. What heroism on both their parts!
Those crack journalists on “Fox & Friends” failed to ask which “riots” Donnie was citing. The “fake news” purveyors at Politico first thought it must be the BLM/George Floyd riots right there in Minneapolis. They found only one applicable text. In typical Donnie fashion, he wrote, “Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts. Thank you!”
That doesn’t sound like “Don’t harm Governor Walz. He’s a good person.” Donnie must have been thinking of a different “riot”
There was a riot of sorts around the Minnesota Governor’s Mansion on April 17, 2020. COVID was raging at the time. Donnie courageously left it up to the individual states to set their own parameters to halt the spread of the scourge. Florida remained open for business as usual. Hopelessly liberal Pennsylvania went so far as to shut down its state-operated liquor stores. Minnesota was undecided. Then Donnie tweeted “LIBERATE MINNESOTA”. This led to several hundred protesters including armed members of the Proud Boys circling Governor Walz’s residence.
Walz called the White House and had to leave a voice message. If Putin or Kim Jong Un called, they would probably get right through. Walz asked, What does “Liberate Minnesota” mean? What do you want me to do differently? What do you think that I’m doing or not doing?” Walz said he never got an answer.
Governor Tim really needed a bit of looting in his house that day. Then he could “start shooting”.
Maybe Donnie was referring to a riot at Walz’s residence on Jan 6. Minnesota MAGA folk who couldn’t make it to DC that day decided to march on the Governor’s Mansion. Walz downplayed it in typical Midwestern fashion. “On Jan. 6, when the Capitol riot happened we had that too, and there were, of course, legislators as well as some of these elements that believe the election was stolen, marching on the residence, and that’s the one where it got way out of hand. The state patrol had to evacuate my 14-year-old, find the dog, and take him to an off-site location.”
Donnie didn’t call off the “Hang Mike Pence” mob at the Capitol nor did he save Tim Walz from the ravening mob.
“How I Saved Tim Walz” is a great story, Donnie. Not true, but great nonetheless.
