Elon’s Midas Touch
How did you fare financially in 2024?
If you were Elon Musk, you made out pretty well. Elon’s net worth increased by more than $200 billion this year bringing his total fortune to $442 billion. Of course, net worth is not cash in your pocket. Much of Elon’s fortune is in stock, stock options, and (probably) Trump Golden Sneakers. In fact, when Elon pressured Tesla’s Board of Directors to grant him a $50 billion paycheck, a nasty judge (probably a Biden appointee) struck it down. That was cruel. Poor Elon has twelve children from three different “partners” to support. $50 billion doesn’t go as far as it used to.
Elon did scrape together some $277 million to support Donnie and other MAGA types in the 2024 election. Did that “bet” pay off? When $277 million becomes $200 billion, we are talking a roughly 8,000 to 1 return on investment. Try getting those odds at your local casino sports book.
What did Elon actually receive in return for his $277 million stake in the 2024 election? He invented DOGE, the Department of Governmental Efficiency and installed himself as its co-chair. Elon promised to use DOGE to create a federal approval process for autonomous vehicles, like the new self-driving Teslas. Also, DOGE would eliminate a Biden administration requirement requiring reporting of crashes involving self-driving vehicles. Why should we know if we are taking our lives into our hands if we enter a self-driving Tesla taxi? For that matter, why should we know if Boeing airplane doors fall off mid-flight? That’s Democrat, Nanny-State, Childless Cat Lady government at its worst!
Elon’s “Midas Touch” is not infallible. Since he acquired Twitter and re-named it X, its value has dropped by 70%. There is an easy fix. Buy out Donnie’s Truth Social and incorporate his presidential rants back into Twitter (or X) where they belong. Donnie will be happy with the extra bucks and he will get X’s bigger audience to boot.
2024 was great financially for Elon. 2025 promises to be even better. I wish that I could say the same.
