Attack Dog

Republicans traditionally use their vice presidents as “attack dogs” keeping their base happy while the Big Guy looks presidential. Spiro Agnew spoke to The Silent Majority against those “nittering nabobs of negativity” who claimed that the war in Vietnam was not going well. Dick Cheney claimed that we would find those Weapons of Mass Destruction if we invaded Iraq. Sarah Palin was simply “Going Rogue” criticizing Obama in her campaign and later in her book of the same title.

Donnie hit a clunker with Mike Pence though Mike is the whitest White Guy imaginable which had to appeal to the MAGA base.

This time around, a wiser Donnie chose J.D. Vance — THE YOUNGEST V-P CANDIDATE EVER, A FORMER MARINE WHO SERVED IN IRAQ, A YALE LAW GRADUATE! That sounds great, but can J.D. be Donnie’s “attack dog” keeping the Pro-Life folk happy?

Yes, he can. J.D. had these comments after Texas passed its anti-abortion law that did not allow exceptions for rape or incest in 2021. “Two wrongs don’t make a right. It’s not whether a woman should be forced to bring a child to term. It’s whether a child should be allowed to live, even though the circumstances of that child’s birth are somehow inconvenient or a problem to the society. The question to me is really about the baby. We want women to have opportunities. We want women to have choices, but, above all, we want women and young boys in the womb to have a right to life.”

Rape or incest are beyond “inconvenient or a problem to society”, J.D. They are crimes. What did they teach you at Yale Law, J.D.? More to the point, rape and incest are traumatizing events that will scar the victim forever. The victim will have many fewer “opportunities” in her life with an unwanted child in tow.

Also, is J.D. implying that only “young boys in the womb” need to be protected and those evil Dems are free to abort as many girl babies as they want?

J.D. toned down his anti-abortion rhetoric after Ohio voters amended the state constitution to ensure abortion rights last year. “There is a view, common among leaders of the Democratic Party, that babies deserve no legal protections in the womb. That is a common view in the Democratic Party, and all I’m saying is that view is wrong. Society should not view unborn babies as inconveniences to be discarded.”

There’s that term “inconvenient” again. Has a rape or incest victim ever viewed her pregnancy as a mere “inconvenience”?

Donnie can continue appearing presidential and dodging the abortion issue with the “Let’s leave it up to the states” line. Meanwhile his “attack dog” VP is saying what the Pro-Lifers want to hear.
